Jardesca is a new and versatile aperitif handcrafted in Sonoma, Calif. – a blend of three white wines including Viognier, with complimentary profiles of sweet and dry, fortified with a double distilled Eau de Vie and brightened by 10 botanicals. This unique beverage, served over ice, is not exactly wine – not exactly liquor. It hits the balance between the two in the most palate-pleasing way.
Botanicals are at the heart of Jardesca’s unique flavor, giving it the garden-to-glass and palate-freshening properties, which give it complexity and depth. There are 10 botanicals used in the Jardesca blend, including pink peppercorn, pink grapefruit peel and bay laurel – inspired by the flavors and notes of California gardens.
Europeans have long enjoyed the palate-priming benefits of aperitifs sipped before a meal or occasion, and the California wine industry is catching on with the growing trend of using aperitifs for low-proof, wine-based cocktails.
Jardesca hits the tongue round, rich, bright and crisp; balanced naturally between sweet and dry. Slightly herbaceous with a citrusy acidity: sweet peppermint, orange blossom and cardamom leap toward the nose; apricots and grapefruit linger upon the palate.
This beautifully sippable aperitif is great solo on the rocks, with a squeeze of fresh citrus and a garden garnish (try a slice of orange with a bit of fresh mint or basil) and also works well as an ingredient in simple cocktails, or topped off with sparkling water or sparkling wine. Add in a squeeze of seasonal fruit (or dash of fresh fruit syrup, like pomegranate, persimmon, quince, pear) a splash of bubbles and you’ve got a festive cocktail.
