An October Release from Russian River Brewing to benefit The Breast Care Center in Santa Rosa.
By The Beer Sage
I’m sure those of you deeply involved in the world of craft beer are well aware of Russian River Brewing Co’s October breast cancer fundraiser, but for those of you still in the dark about this annual release, it’s time for you to get “all hopped up for the cure.”
On October 1, Russian River Brewing Company kicked off their month long breast cancer fundraiser with the release of “Framboise for a Cure.” The first day alone they sold 95 cases of the brew, and raised more than $15,000.
The beer is only sold while supplies last during the month of October, and proceeds for the sales go to The Breast Care Center in Santa Rosa.
Framboise for a Cure is a raspberry blonde ale, the base of which is Temptation (“Blonde Ale aged in used Chardonnay barrels from local Sonoma County wineries”), with 30 pounds of fresh raspberries added to each barrel, resulting in a fine balance of sour and sweetness.
Unfortunately, this year they are not distributing Framboise, you may only purchase at the brewery. Bottles are limited to six per person or one case per party. For those of you in the Santa Rosa area, they will release 27 cases a day at 11a.m. until Sunday, Oct. 6.
Aura Helwick of Russian River Brewing States, “Last year we had bottles available until the end of October. This year we bottled more but sold most of our inventory in the first day. Every year is different and we were shocked with this year’s purchasing trends.”
