Rosé of the Week
A Pick from Her VineNess:
2012 Le P’tit Paysan Rosé of Mourvedre, 13% alcohol, $19
Ah, the girls of summer, long-legged, tanned and lovely, as their hair turns spun gold in the sun…that’s what this wine brings to mind. Made from the mysterious and surprisingly zesty Mourvedre grape, this gorgeous wine is a pale salmon color, like the first blush of a pink rose. It’s refreshingly dry, crisp with a hint of cranberry rhubarb and a flourishing finish of fresh picked juicy red plum. Perfect with watermelon salsa and sweet potato chips. Winemaker Ian Brand, recently named 40 under 40 Winemakers to Watch by Wine Enthusiast magazine, has crafted a summer-perfect bathing beauty that looks much better in a tutu than Monsieur Pierre, who appears in one on the delightfully tongue-in-cheek label.
