White Wine of the Week
2012 Holman Ranch “Virgin” Chardonnay, Estate, Carmel Valley, 13.5% Alcohol, $22
This is pure citrus blossom, honeysuckle, grapefruit and lime zest on the nose. Made without malolactic fermentation to preserve the racy, surging flavors of tangerine, nectarine and white currant, this wine is fresh, assertive and refreshing, like skinny-dipping in a mountain stream on a summer afternoon, in a bower of wild honeysuckle.
Pair with goat chevre and pear crostini topped with rosehips jelly, or vegetarian spring rolls with wasabi.
This wine can be purchased on the Holman Ranch Website at http://shop.holmanranch.com/2012virginchardonnay.aspx
