White Wine of the Week
A Pick From Her VineNess
2012 Chesebro Sauvignon Blanc, Cedar Lane Vineyard, Arroyo Seco, $18
There’s absolutely nothing as refreshing as a crisply made Sauvignon Blanc, a stone cold killer on a hot day. It’s probably the only beverage that’s going to help us survive global warming. Let’s pray more is planted in the cooler climes, as its efficacy in Napa and Sonoma is brought into question. A properly planted, solid example of cool climate California Sauv Blanc is the 2012 Chesebro Sauv Blanc from the Cedar Lane Vineyard in Arroyo Seco, where the wind blows like a freight train every afternoon, and your hat flies free, along with your hair. Fittingly, this wine is a top-down convertible joy ride, from its lemon blossom, fresh-squeezed lime and slightly briney aromas to its green melon, Asian pear, just ripe peach and key lime pie flavors. Bring on the citrus!
This wine can be purchased for $18 online at www.chesebrowines.com or at A Taste of Monterey’s Website, www.atasteofmonterey.com/2009-chesebro-sauvignon-blanc

She loves hanging out with winemakers and winegrowers in their vineyards and cellars, drinking in their quirky, inspiring stories, and of course, their wines. She most enjoys sharing her experiences with people as besotted with wine and food as she is, and happily recommends good bottles of wine for your drinking pleasure.
